Asia has so much to offer that is often hard to know where to begin. Such varied cultures and experiences throughout the region mean that there is no single ‘Asian vacation,’ you could travel to Asia a dozen times and never have the same experience once. In fact, we often think that choosing just where to go in Asia is so difficult, but don’t worry, we picked out the five best experiences we love about Asia to give you some ideas.
Take a break in Bali
If all of that sounds a bit too tiring, and with working life taking up more and more of our energy these days, then Asia still has the remedy you are looking for. Take a trip to Bali, and spend some time relaxing on those incredible beaches. Explore the reef by boat adds some interest without asking you to do too much, while still enjoying the beautiful scenery. Furthermore, the fabulous food will keep you content the whole trip. When a vacation just means a break from the hectic pace of modern life, there are few better answers in Bali.
Tokyo’s Robot Cabaret
It sounds silly, but if there is anything that represents the ingenuity, idiosyncrasy, and irreverence of Japan, laser lights, dancing girls, robots and Godzilla all in a single show is it. Best of all you can combine the spectacular show with a delicious meal, the Kobe Beef is always a winner and adds to the experience. The hour-long Robot Cabaret sees neon-clad heroes save the world from tanks, robot samurais and all manner of other monsters. It is an experience that you will never forget.
A river cruise in Vietnam
With its well-documented past, Vietnam has been a place viewed from afar for many people, but today it has blossomed into a magnificent place to visit. There are many things to see and do in Vietnam, but an adventure tour along the Mekong Delta from Ho Chi Min City is an one of a kind experience. Using the traditional long tail boats, the tour takes you on an exploration of the villages and islands. These small group tours provide a real flavor of the country and a wonderful, personal experience.
Meet an Elephant
Elephants are somewhat synonymous with Asia, and as friendly, intelligent animals, meeting one can be a heartwarming experience for anyone. There are many options for meeting an elephant, but in Thailand in particular the opportunities are numerous and incredibly well organized. A day trip from Bangkok to meet elephants is an incredible experience, you leave the hustle and bustle of the busy city and venture out into the jungle, and then get to trek back on the back of an elephant. These gentle giants never fail to charm, one of the natural wonders of the world.
See the Great Wall of China
As one of the greatest constructs in the world, the Great Wall brings the historical interest of course, but it also winds through some of the most beautiful scenery and makes for a wonderful way to see the magnificent landscape as well. At 5,500 miles long, you are not going to see it all, but you can go for day hikes along parts, and it is a somewhat surreal experience. While some of the great wall dates back to 220 BC, the majority is between the 10th and 14th century, so even if you walk on the newer parts, you can be strolling along 1,000-year-old construction. It is a great legacy of the ingenuity of the Chinese people, a real trip into history.
